Great Journeys
Published in Hardcover by Touchstone Books (July, 1990)
Average review score:

Seven great journeys across geography and history. For those readers interested in both history and geography, this book should be of interest to them. Great journeys is a BBC production and the seven writers describe their journeys, with differing opinions and viewpoints. The seven journeys are: 1) the Silk Road, 2) the Polynesian Triangle, 3) the Pan American Highway, 4) the Burma Road, 5) the Baltic to the Black Sea, 6) the Salt Road, and 7) the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Terrific writing by all the writers, although I can't say I agree with all their viewpoints. This is especially the case with Philip Jones Griffiths who wrote about the Ho Chi Minh trail. I found him too guilible to the Communist cause.

Handbook of Communication Audits for Organisations
Published in Paperback by Psychology Pr (24 April, 2000)
Average review score:

Review of Handbook of Communication Audits for OrganisationsOwen Hargie, Professor of Communication at the University of Ulster and Dennis Tourish, senior lecturer at University of Queensland, Australia, introduce the concept of communication audits in their handbook. This book is useful for employees involved in communications audits or those conducting audits for an organization. Their book examines methodologies for audits including a chapter each on questionnaires, interviews, focus groups, and log-sheets. The handbook provides practical help for auditors including a section on possible survey questions as well as attributes of a world-class communication system. A section of the book includes real-world examples where the authors have conducted similar communication audits to the ones they describe in the introduction. These case studies show how application can be made of the principles discussed in the handbook and include some valuable "lessons learned". This book includes some of the lastest thinking on communication audits in organizations. Only one drawback that may be noticable to an American audience - both authors are native to the "queen's English" and some of the wording may sound very British especially when trying to "translate" for a typical American organization. It's important to keep in mind that some wording may need to be slightly adjusted for the American business reader.

2 yrs and missed itto recall all the right stuff about the beatles with a particular honesty about their expressions concerning the old steptoe garbage how they interacted with the crew and various other people that gave the humour. photographs, not necessarily just the ones the studio gave out (well they don't look contrived), and being a special australian edition makes it feel even more special.

History in English Words
Published in Paperback by Lindisfarne Books (01 March, 2002)
Average review score:

Words as ArtifactHistory in English Words is a fascinating archeological exploration of societies precursor to those of today that speak the English language. Where nothing or little exists in the archaeological ruins, words reveal lifestyle, thought and patterns of migration. In addition, to following the movement of the precursor civilizations across Asia and Europe. The book is lively and thought provoking. The first half gets a little thin as he approaches the modern age, but then he launches into a new premise, that of the conflict of religious and scientific thought in the second half and the book is reinvigorated.

Howlers
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (October, 1999)
Average review score:

Review of "Howlers"Is an excellent synopsis (complete with colorful dialogue) of The X-Files episode "Unruhe". It's almost even scarier than the episode because sometimes you have to look over the words twice to truly understand what's going on. This is an excellent book on one of the best X-Files episodes.

I Hear the Train: Reflections, Inventions, Refractions
Published in Hardcover by Univ of Oklahoma Pr (Trd) (October, 2001)
Average review score:

Hearing the train and moreThis is an excellent volume of work that seamlessly blends essay and fiction, reminding us that history, truth, memory and fiction are often the same thing. The essays and stories, while clearly the outgrowth of one man's experience and imagination, represent the entire breadth of human emotions. There are stories that pivot on comedy and surreality in France, others about work and class structure, and adolescent efforts to identify oneself within a white American culture during the 60s and 70s. There is a lost brother, a conflicted hunter, a naive forest ranger. What the reader gets are layers of complexity buried beneath great stories. The pull of this book is extraodinary. It leaves you wanting more.

Identity, Character, and Morality: Essays in Moral Psychology
Published in Paperback by MIT Press (26 August, 1993)
Average review score:

identity, character, and moralityFirst of all, this book is very goodt because its different essays are all related to one of the most important subjects that concerns professors, teachers and parents : moral education. All of them are written as a discussion, not in a dogmatic way, what gives the reader a good opportunity to have a critical thinking about them. The essays deal with important known theories, such as Kant's, raising many relevant questions to our life context. Researchers will find in the different essays substantial theoretical foundations.

Illustrated Standard of the Dairy GoatI found this book to be a very valuable tool to understanding what makes up the stucture of a dairy goat.
Although some of the scoring from American Dairy Goat Asso scorecard have changed, I still think this is a wise investment.
